ISO 9001:2008
Tier ONE, LLC recently underwent a surveillance audit and used the opportunity to update our certification from ISO 9001:2000 to ISO 9001:2008. At Tier ONE we take quality serious. This is why our Quality Management Representative is one of the Principals. We do service a variety of customers with many different quality requirements and have built a system that has the flexibility to accommodate your quality needs or surpass them. Customer specific quality requirements are reviewed as part of our contract review process. Some examples of customer specific requirements we have delivered include: First Article Inspection Reports, In-process inspection reports, functional testing, material certification, Certificates of Conformance and product traceability.
Our QMS includes initial validation of manufacturing processes, in-process inspection of machined parts, incoming inspection of raw material and secondary operations and functional testing of assemblies.
We employ five trained Inspectors in our Quality Assurance group. They are primarily responsible for developing and implementing our inspection processes. In production, our Machinists and Assemblers have responsibility for the quality of the product they manufacture. They are given the tools and processes at their workstation to verify the quality of the product they manufacture. We do not rely the outdated approach utilizing a separate Quality group to “inspect in” quality. We rely on the Machinists and Assemblers to understand how to assess the quality of their product, to use this information to adjust their production processes and to verify that this quality is delivered on each piece they produce.
We have a wide variety of inspection equipment including several Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM’s), Vision Systems, Shadowgraphs, surface testers and hand inspection tools. These devices are all maintained, calibrated and traceable back to NIST standards.
